VARIOUS TYPES OF FAX MACHINES
For the convenience of our customers, here are
the descriptions for various types of Fax Machines currently
available in the Pakistan market.
Thermal FAX
Thermal fax machines use a thermal printer that requires a special
fax paper. The paper is coated with chemicals that react to heat by
turning black to produce an image. Ideal for home use or small
office it is less expensive to purchase and operate. It is compact
with space-saving design and can be used as phone, fax and answering
machine. There are no expendables like ink or ribbons because the
paper contains the ink. The only disadvantage is that the paper
discolors over time and the printed matter may not be readable. If
the documents are important for the long term, they should be kept
in a location away from heat, or ideally photocopied on plain paper.

Plain Paper FAX
Plain paper fax machines offer higher quality results and a more
professional appearance, which unlike thermal paper will not fade.
These are designed mainly for businesses and heavy-duty users. Plain
paper fax has different “inking systems“.

Thermal film
Thermal film uses a page-width ribbon that contains ink that melts
onto paper when heated. There is no need to purchase the cartridge
although the ribbon will have to be replaced after some time. This
is much cheaper than a Laser fax but the copy cost is higher.
Therefore, it is preferred for low to medium work load.

Laser Fax
These machines use a Laser printer which has the same mechanism as a
normal Laser printer. Consumables include toner cartridge and drum
which need to be replaced with use. High capacity and fast-printing
make these fax machines perfect for medium to high volume users.

Inkjet
As the name suggests, these machines print under the same mechanism
as a normal inkjet printer. The print quality is better than thermal
film but inferior to Laser.

Laser multi-function fax
If you need a printer, a copier, a scanner, and a fax machine and
copier but don't have room for all of that equipment, you're a good
candidate for a multifunction, or all-in-one, device. They are the
latest and most powerful fax machines available in the market. These
multi-use machines connect to a PC to print, copy, scan and fax.
They also include Document Management software which makes it easy
to send fax via email. The transmission and reception speeds are
also much faster. Some models can even connect on a LAN and can be
used by multiple users on the network.
All-in-one machines are recommended for situations where use of each
of the feature – print, fax and copy – is low to medium. Very heavy
usage of each of the 3 features will reduce the life of the machine. |
